Butler/Till Media & Communications and The Strong Museum of Play have teamed up to provide eight students real-world advertising experience. Butler/Till’s summer interns will collaborate during a nine-week internship program to ultimately pitch The Strong Museum on creative media opportunities geared toward target audiences in new markets. This is the third year of B/T Prep, with previous partners including Rochester Regional Health and Excellus BlueCross BlueShield.
Inspired by Butler/Till University – the agency’s own internal training program – B/T Prep combines practical experience with instruction from industry professionals. Butler/Till also borrows elements from the classroom by providing regular lectures, lab sessions, and interactive seminars with Butler/Till employees and external mentors, along with regular collaboration with the client. Six of the program’s interns represent several colleges, including Ithaca College, Rochester Institute of Technology, St. John Fisher College, and the University of Dayton.
Two additional students will join 2016’s B/T Prep through the Women’s Council, a Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce affiliate. This will be the first time the Women’s Council will partner with Butler/Till to provide two graduating high school seniors the experience of a lifetime as they team up with six college students as part of the unique program. The two seniors are recipients of the Young Women of Distinction Scholarship Award, an award presented to high school senior women who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to community service.
“Partnering with the extraordinary talent at Butler/Till allows the Women’s Council to continue to advance one of its strategic goals of empowering women at every stage of their career,” said Wende Knapp, Esq., president, Women’s Council. “This tremendous opportunity at B/T Prep will help prepare these young women and future leaders to begin their career journeys by working at one of Rochester’s most cutting-edge, creative, and strategic companies.”
Butler/Till, an employee-owned media and communications agency, works with brands across the country on marketing programs via digital, social, traditional, and experiential platforms. B/T Prep enables college students to get hands-on experience with the agency’s account service, media strategy and planning, and creative services teams.
“B/T Prep has proven to be an exciting, hands-on experience for our interns as well as the Butler/Till team and our business partners,” Kimberly Jones, President of Butler/Till, said.
“We’ve had the pleasure of working with great regional organizations as part of this program and have also hired participants in the B/T Prep program; it’s a great way to challenge students and get them more involved in the business long term.”
